Better than expected lunch restaurant May 07, 2017
N40°24.995' W3°41.677' In an extension on the ground floor of the new museum wing, with Las Terraza del Thyssen on its roof, this large space is dedicated to coffee, drinks and lunches. Do not confuse it with Restaurante El Mirador del Thyssen on the roof of the new museum wing. In April 2017, we needed a break from the breath-taking breadth of artistic styles in the overwhelming collection of Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. Seating went very fast and efficient and the menu was up to speed with coming and going of lunch guests. The cafeteria is accessible without buying an entry ticket to the museum.

We ordered ensalada de hortal (vegetable salad with endives, lettuce, tomato, arugula, corn, carrots, peppers, cucumber and mustard vinaigrette) (€10,25) and Magret de pato (duck breast with couscous, nuts, peppermint and orange sauce) (€12,95) with two glasses of white wine and a bottle of delicious Portuguese Pedras water. To our surprise, the salad tasted very good. Well prepare with nice flavours. The same for the duck breast. The duck had good texture, and the sauce, plums and couscous made a very good combination. Well-presented too.

For such a large restaurant and catering to hordes of museum visitors, Cafetería Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza delivered an excellent lunch. We enjoyed it.
