Dine in the crypt of historic St Martin's in fields Oct 17, 2015
I organised a vt meet here for a sunday roast with Colin & Cecilia. The crypt is a haven of peace especially as bustling Trafalgar square is across the road. Take in the 18th centuary architecture whilst enjoying your lunch. It can be a little draughty so a pashmina or jersey is recommended. The food is good british home style cooking and the prices are fairly priced. They try and use local and national sustainable sources and free range eggs.

Colin & Cecilia had the roast beef with Yorkshire pudding for around GBP10 and I has the soup of the day and the blackberry crumble which was huge enough for two hungry people. The deal for the 2 was only GBP7 a bargin. They serve a selection of sandwiches and also have a selection of wine and beer.

They serve breakfast full English GBP7.50 btw 8-11am Monday to Saturday, lunch 11.30am - 3pm and afternoon cream tea between 2pm to 6pm, dinner is 5pm until closing. On sunday a roast is served from 12pm to 4pm and afternoon tea 4pm to 6pm.

Wednesday nights are jazz nights open to those with booked tickets around GBP11. The style is help yourself canteen style. The toilets downstairs are very clean. Do take a wander into the church to view this lovely house of worship.

The Crypt is located just to the right off trafalgar square. Its easily accessed by a glass lift or spiral stairs. The main hall has ample amounts of room and can also cater for functions and weddings. The food provided is cheap and delicious. The main food served is 'soup'...this comes with a roll of your choice. There are also sandwiches, salmon cakes with salad, pate & crackers to yummy puddings and apple pie. Drinks range from hot chocolates to soft drinks, juice and water.

I highly recommend eating in this establishment. Not only does it date back hundreds of years but the historic value is impressive.

Also located in the crypt is a gift shop full of goodies as well as post cards and crafts.
