Cafe du Monde Beignets May 29, 2007
Located just off the Riverwalk in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Cafe du Monde is known around the country for its famous beignets. These are square shaped, deep fried donut type desserts sprinkled with confecioner's sugar (Personally, I like mine covered in confectioner's sugar, not just sprinkled!). You can have your choice of beverage to go along with the beignets, but the beverage of choice is cafe au lait ~ hot coffee with milk. There are some copy cat places, but none can compare to the original Cafe du Monde! When visiting the New Orleans area, this is a must visit attraction!

I have another three days to go in this city, and I'm sure there is plenty more to see, particularly when I take proper pictures with a real camera. For now, I'm satisfied with my two discoveries and the knowledge that I've experienced a walk down Bourbon Street. And yes, I made it to Cafe Du Monde for beignets, so stop asking. =) … Land of the Delta Blues: New Orleans |

We went down to the waterfront and then to Cafe du Monde for the requisite beignets and chicory coffee. It's as good as everyone says, if not better! We had dinner at a local hole-in-the wall, I had a shrimp po-boy that was quite good. After getting… Day 3 Continued: New Orleans |

We started out with a visit to Cafe du Monde for the world famous beignets. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a type of doughnut, square in shape, deep fried and covered in powered sugar. When you top it off with a cup of cafe… French Quarter ~ New Orleans, Louisiana |
