Cafe de Weerelt
Cafe de Weerelt Reviews
Place of choice Apr 12, 2009
I've been treating the cafes along Oude Markt as pretty much interchangeable. The seating all merges into the same delightful atmosphere, so why sit at one place over another? They each have a pretty similar selection of beers and (if they do food) it is generally the same basic Italian fusion (almost invariably resulting in vegetarian lasagna for me). Cafe de Weerelt, however, may now be my place of choice along Oude Markt, because their beer selection coincides with my taste-buds (including Duvel and Delirum Tremens) and because when I asked for Passionfruit Jenever the waitress went and got a bottle from another cafe rather than just tell me they were out of it.
PS the Passionfruit Jenever is strikingly easy to drink for such an alcoholic beverage. Part of the Life in Belgium travel blog |

I just read an interesting article about the Islamisation myth. Islam in Europe has obviously stirred up a lot of fears among Belgium's neighbours, the Netherlands, Germany and France. I could be wrong, but it doesn't really seem like a huge deal in…… Muslims in Belgium |
