In the middle of the old city centre of Basel you can be lucky to find the cafe Zum Roten Engel. The place is situated in a small square which is surrounded with old beautiful houses all hidden behind wall of old green plants, which is covering the houses. The square is calm and it is a place where you just sit down and relax.
The cafe fulfil you basic needs; there are tables inside and outside giving you the possibility to find just the place that suits you a given day. You have a good range of coffees and other beverage to choose from but the real beauty of this place is sitting on the square on a warm summer afternoon when the sun does not reach down to the tables. Just staying in the calm shade and read some local newspapers or look pictures if your German is too bad.
