Cafe Victoria Prague Reviews
Food disappointing. OK for drinks Aug 23, 2011
Small cafe on the edge of a street corner, opposite Church of St Nicholas.
Originally stopped off here for soft drinks on the way to Prague castle, a small bottle of coke/fanta costs 45 koruna (approx £1.50) Service was ok, staff not over friendly.
Headed back here for a light lunch, we both opted for salads, one a tuna salad, the other a Greek salad, together with two beers. Again the service was not great in fact when the waitress came out with our beers she was trying to put them down on another table where a couple had only just occupied the seats. When we said that we thought they were ours she replied with "Oh you've moved then have you?" to which we were a little stunned as we had not moved from the table where our initial order had been taken.
When the salads came over, one would assume that for more or less the same price 135-145 koruna you would get more or less the same sized salad. However, the greek salad was served in a bowl half the size of my tuna salad, with limited amounts of cheese. On the other hand my rather large bowl of salad did have ample topping of tuna and olives, however, the majority of the bowl contained approximately 3/4 of a whole lettuce. So neither was really value for money.
When the bill came we were startled to see that at the bottom highlighted in red pen was "Service not Included - 10%" and underlined too.
Toilets were situated downstairs in the cafe, they were clean and tidy.
Would only purchase drinks at Cafe Victoria in future, due to the disappointment of the salads. Should have really taken note that no other customers were eating here. However, great location to people watch and take the weight off your feet before embarking on the trek upto the castle.
