Beautiful situation - Tower of Babel? May 23, 2001
The Cafe Ursula was somewhere we found by chance on our first visit to Helsinki, after walking through the area with lots of embassies. Face the sea from the open market in the harbour. On the coast leaving you to the right there are various docking places for boats to Åland, Tallinn and elsewhere. You can either keep near the coast until it does practically a rightangle turn or get up to your right, past the embassies and then down to the coast again. Cafe Ursula is just on the turn.

You have probably grasped the point of both parts of the title. The cafe is just above sea level with several islands in view and with parkland above, between it and the embassies. Embassies naturally have many nationalities and languages and it seemed that this was a popular lunchtime venue.

We made certain of another visit on our second trip to Helsinki - and I'm sure we shall do so on any subsequent trip. As well as plenty of room inside, there's a very large sitting area outside. Snacks and coffee were at reasonable prices - certainly for Scandinavia.
