After trawling around a slightly more pricey area of the city centre, we decided to stop at the Cafe Novo, not far from the Manneken-Pis fountain. It had a 3-course menu for 18€ which allowed you to choose from any selection from the carte. For the price, one could actually find some very attractive traditional dishes, with character and flavour. The prawn starter and devine beef casserole main left only the smallest space for desserts. At first I was dissapointed by the suggestion of a selection from the dessert tray, but once it was presented there was such a variety of unbeforeseen tarts and cakes that it was almost impossible to choose.

The meal was undeniably a success in terms of size, flavour and price, and the cafe itself was a pleasure to eat in, with a very friendly waitress and modern trendy presentation like those found in some of the best bars visited in Brussels
