Cafe La Princesa
Cafe La Princesa Reviews
Charming out door cafe on Paseo La Princesa - Cafe La Princesa Feb 05, 2009
It’s a nice and open place close to Old San Juan, to be exact they are located on the Paseo de la Princesa.
Since it’s an open place, it’s perfect for the warm days, which are the most in San Juan. Just avoid it during the rain. Love the atmosphere here. The tables are situated in a nice patio under the trees. There was a dj and a stage, so I assume they have live music. Unfortunately they weren’t playing when we were there. But I could listen to the coquis – hehe The kitchen is open, so you can look how they are cooking the dishes and also had a nice bar area. Ok, now talk about the food. Since this is a touristy area, you’d be able to find Puerto Rican food on the menu. It was good, but don’t get too excited. Personally I think that if you want to get the real taste, you have to go where the locals go. But the food was very good. We tried the famous mofongo (fried plantains stuffed with beef, pork or shrimp) and a platter of Puerto Rican fried appetizers calles Antojitos de aqui" which included the alcapurrias, fried cheese, mofonguitos (little mofongos) and cornsticks. To drink they have different options including cocktails with rum and other spirits. Our waitress was helpful and had patience with us, explaining what were the dishes about, hehe. If you are looking for real Puerto Rican food, maybe this is not the best place, but if you are around and want to relax and chill out, this place is definitely a great option. After walking around Paseo de La Princesa, this is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a nice outdoors location. Part of the 2nd Meet Up was my 1st time in the Caribbean - Puerto Rico, yay!! :) travel blog
