Cafe Beaujolais Mendocino Reviews
Typical tourist trap- very disapointing-unfriendly staff, limit rude - Outrageously expensive for the quality served. Aug 16, 2008
We had heard of the Famous Cafe beaujolais in the Village of Mendocino, so we had to try it...
Fist, making the reservation was not the most pleasant experience. We were greeted by the attitude "you should feel lucky to get-in...". We had to wait almost 20 minutes for our "reserved" table. The food was nothing spectacular and definitely didn't justify the high prices. We then learned that the Chef who had made this restaurant's fame had sold it a couple of years prior. The current owners are simply riding on the retaurant's somewhat famous name, but do not have the quality or the Chef to back it up. The overall feeling of the evening was of a complete money-mill. How fast can we turn these tables over to make the maximum profit for the evening...Bottom line:don't fall for the tourist trap...There are much better places to dine in the same budget category.
The only positive though: in their bakery, they have an excellent French baguette. Worth stopping-by to take one home and make your own sandwich. You can also buy this bread at the local grocery Store Mendosa's where they sell a nice assortment of International cheeses.
