Small hotel but definitely value for money Nov 24, 2014
Cafe Aroma Inn is a small hotel located on top of a coffee shop and restaurant of the same name. It seems they are more popular for their food than their hotel, but the hotel is a great value. It is also one of the newer places in Kandy.

For one, we booked a Standard room (supposed to be one of four) but instead got given a Deluxe room - and that's what made all of the difference.

For one, two double beds, a sofa, 32" LCD TV, spacious cabinets, and a nice comfy couch just beside the bathroom door. The room was quite clean and the toilet bowl had a "disinfected for your safety" paper tab - small details that make a hotel stay worth your while. The shower was quite strong and hot enough. The whole room of which the floor was tiled was cleaner than anything we've had during our Sri Lanka trip. And the beds were really supple and nice to sleep in. Never mind the window which was facing the roofs of the adjacent buildings, this was the hotel highlight of our stay.

The breakfast was even more amazing - they had a selection of breads, fruit platter, and then eggs (omelette or sunny side up) plus a sausage. Not to mention a choice of coffee or tea with refills. We spent two days thoroughly enjoying the breakfast - even though Kandy is a sleepy town, this was a great place to stay. The restaurant on the second floor was also good - the biryanis and curries were reasonably price and one of the best tasting we had for the whole week.

While we checked in, the lady at the front desk wasn't as friendly or helpful, but on the last day, the gentleman in charge of the shift was very gracious that he made us feel reassured even if the cook was reporting late for work that morning.

Overall this is a highly recommended hotel - it may be small, but that's where the charm lies. And it is just five minutes away from the Kandy Lake, so exploring the city center isn't difficult.

Come here for Pasta & proper cappuccino Jun 01, 2014
I visited this restaurant twice once for lunch and then for dinner they serve pretty large portions. I enjoyed the pasta dishes which can be a little difficult to find in sri lanka besides of course pizza hut. Also another thing you may be craving is cheese and you will find it here just look at my pictures after years of living with just processed cheese slices it is a very welcome site.

The staff are all smartly dressed and eager to serve it is all very clean and fresh. This is a place you can get proper cappucinos and espresso along with yummy cakes.

Prices are quite reasonable, and the food is plentiful. They do have an inn attached to the restauarant it is really central and very close to the tooth temple.
Cheese!! yum
All waiting to serve you
