What the hell...! NY Hostel Apr 24, 2010
Cafe 202 Hostel, opened 1st April 2010, I stayed 21st April for 3 nights...
Some teething issues, though somewhat due to people being volcanic ash cloud stranded in New York. Also partly the reason i stayed. No ash issue, i'd have been in hotel, still hostel it was!!
202 East 110th Street, Upper East Side, NY 10029
One block from 110th Subway. 10mins to Central Park (N.E. Corner)
24hr Reception, TV room & lounge with pool table tennis and air hockey table.
Internet room in basement for $1 for 20mins.
Wireless not working in rooms.
Booked with Hostelworld.com - $30 a night $42 a night at weekend!!
Cheap for New York, but would seem expensive if elsewhere...
Very small lockers available @ $5 a day!!
ATM at reception. I never used it so not so sure of costs.
Towels, blankets & sheets provided.
Coffee, cold drinks & pastries available, but for food, beer etc. need to venture out, which very late at night can seem a little daunting!
Security seems pretty good, although anyone could walk in downstairs.
Lift or stairs to dorms. Each floor is split to male and female dorms. Each comprising of a 4,8 or 12 person room. + 2 shared bathrooms. There is spare room which depending on future needs, may become another dorm or bathroom. Perhaps even a kitchen!!
Keycard to access male or female sides, then use again for your room.
Rooms are pretty small, have aircon, fine for a few nights.
