Café des Nattes Sidi Bou Said Reviews
Typical Moorish coffeehouse Jul 08, 2000
The atmospheric little town of Sidi Bou Said is located at about twenty kilometers of Tunis and is full of quaint blue and white painted houses. At the main square you’ll find the famous Café des Nattes, which was described in the novel ‘View of A Mosque’ by August Macke in 1914.
You don’t have to read the novel in order to enjoy this traditional Moorish coffeehouse. The place airs a lot of character and it is simply wonderful to escape the heat, lie down in the pillows and order an Arabic tea, or water pipe. They also serve western soft drinks like Coca Cola, in case you’re not up for a dare.
