Yes, it's overly expensive. But yes, it's a really great experience also. This is the perfect place for you if you want to indulge in some luxury, a splurge for the special occasion.

The Cafe Vestibül is - as the name indicates - in the vestibule of the Kempinski Taschenbergpalais Hotel, one of Germany's best hotels. You sit on very comfy, plushy chairs and sofas where you could spend hours - and nobody will rush you. The architecture is beautiful Baroque, from most places you have the grand staircase in view - fantastic for people watching.

Oh, the fancy cakes are FABULOUS, of course. And so is the tea. Coffee also. Service is impeccable, naturally. Expect to pay 10-12 Euro for that combination. Sometimes they have special offers, like when I toured the city with a group of (American) friends of a friend: Coffee plus a piece of cake plus a glass of sparkling wine for 9 Euro. Our little group had special wishes, of course, but the very friendly and competent waiter handled this perfectly. We got cappuccino, also tea, instead of just coffee, and had a great time.
