Café Santa Cruz Coimbra Reviews
Smart little cafe Nov 29, 2010
Serving many customers since 1923, and sharing its building foundations with its prestigious next-door neighbour (the Santa Cruz monastery), this cafe is certainly not shy about its plus points.
Apart from the smart location and badge of honour though, this cafe is a nice place to visit in its own right. The coffee is lovely, and they sell a good variety of other hot drinks and even alcoholic drinks too. They sell a decent range of cakes which are delicious, and you can get other food if you choose (for example, sandwiches, light meals).
The cafe draws in many people throughout the day, ranging from tourists to locals, young and old etc.
The service is decent, with polite and smartly dressed staff. The customer service is a nice balance between being ordinary and snobbish too.
There are a range of tables outside and inside the cafe, so take your seat according to the weather conditions!
The architecture is stunning too. The ceiling is amazing, and towards the back of the cafe, they have this stage where they must have some sort of entertainment from time to time.
In contrast to what you'd expect from this sort of place, they do provide value for money. A coffee and cake cost me 3 Euros foor example, not bad at all.
I'd definitely try and stop off at this place while you are visiting Coimbra.
