A classic at the Bellevue Dec 29, 2008
Café Odeon has been opened at the beginning of last century so that today it's one of the classics like the Kronenhalle, which is also located at the Bellevue. It should follow the Austrian coffeehouse tradition and I think they do fine with that.

The cafè has a typical nouveau architecture with an extremely high ceiling, a large chandeliere and the for this style typical warmth and sophisticated ambience. You can sit there for hours, talk about all the world and his brother or just observe the people. They are a mixture of every age and class so that you can meet the pensioner as well as the businessman and the student.

The price is upper level, but you definitely get value for money. Even the peppermint infusion was not the simple stuff you get at every supermarket but a special blend. And it's definitely worth spending the 10 Franks on the "Schoggichüechli". I've hardly ever eaten such a tasty chocolate cake. Café Odeon doesn't offer merely beverages and sweets, though. You also have a choice of salads and warm dishes.
