Café Konig Rottau Reviews
Cute panzio in the Bavarian Alps Dec 27, 2009
Café Koenig, our panzio, is located at the beginning of town and is built of a typical Alpine design. It’s very adorable from the outside. On the inside, the lodgings are similar to a bed and breakfast. There is one main entrance to the house and we got the whole 2nd floor to ourselves. I was very happy with the accommodations. The bed was nice and big with plenty of bed coverings so as not to get cold at nigh, the radiator worked well and with a small turn of the knob, had the room warm and cozy in no time. The television was quite small, only about a 13”, about the size of my laptop screen, but we got perfect reception. The bathroom was a bit tight but adequate.
The first night we got in during the evening time so we couldn’t really see our surroundings, however, in the morning we were surprised by the area around our panzio, it was beautiful. The Bavarian Alps are snow topped and tower over the countryside. Our room had access to a huge balcony and I fought off the cold to enjoy the fresh air and the view.
Every morning we woke up and had breakfast in the café (included in the price of the room). Breakfast was the typical European breakfast of cold cuts and cheese, bread, butter, jam, coffee, tea and juice. Nothing too exciting but enough to get us to the next meal.
The service at the panzio was fantastic. Every evening, after tours of surrounding cities, we found our room cleaned and nicely put back together. The cleaning staff even went as far as to nicely fold the clothes we hung on the backs of the chairs, a nice treat for us.
We visited Rottau during the winter time between Christmas and New Year’s. There was still a little bit of snow from previous storms and it was quite cold. We stayed here for 3 nights and each night was just as comfortable as the previous one.
We visited Rottau during the winter time between Christmas and New Year’s. There was still a little bit of snow from previous storms and it was quite cold. The city is very small farming village so there’s not too much to do or see, however, it is close enough for day trips to Munich, Salzburg and cute Alpine villages such as Groassau and Reit im Winkl.
I would strongly recommend this place for a nice, comfortable, cozy stay.
