Ice cream and more Mar 14, 2017
This cafe is located in a quiet residential area southeast of the main railway station, close to the Tech University and student apartments. It was opened in 1979 as an ice cream parlor in a single family home, which was enlarged in 1991 and re-opened as a restaurant-cafe. They make their own ice cream, daily fresh minimum 16 sorts after traditional recipes. They always have a special ice cream of the month, sometimes exotic, sometimes just fitting into the season.

I pretty often stop by when I've got things to do at the Tech University/the State and University Library and grab one or two scoops of ice cream on the go for 1 Euro each - delicious! What I like very much is that the nice Beutler Park is just around the corner, one minute away, so you can take a stroll in the shade of the trees or sit on a bench and enjoy the ice cream. Or you order a sundae - they do look tempting!

I also had coffee and cake here - both yummy. The house baked crumbly blueberry cake with baiser topping was 2.80 Euro, the coffee 2 Euro. Very good also was the apricot cake with almonds on top, ditto the cappuccino.

Service was always very good, friendly, quick and attentive. Once it started raining hard when I visited and the waitress gave me an umbrella and explicitly said not to bring it back. Wow!
