Café Bare Blåbær Trondheim Reviews
Piece of Cake Sep 12, 2012
Café Bare Blåbær is located in Trondheims dockland, near the Solsiden (Sunny Side) shopping center. Bare Blåbær literally means "only Blueberries", but the expression means "Piece of Cake".
Café Bare Blåbær is a pretty cool place. It´s very popular and always busy. The atmosphere is warm and the interior very colorful. It´s a nice mix of a typical diners furniture and 18th century sofas and armchairs. You order and pay for the food and drinks by the bar, then it is brought to your table. Prices are average for Norway, but for what you get, I found the prices too high (my so called quesadilla was $21 and the blueberry pie $9).
On the menu they have a variety of sandwiches, burgers and pizza. There is also a tex-mex section in the menu. I hadn´t had tex-mex in a long time, so I ordered a chicken quesadilla. When it was served I was very surprised, it was nothing but a chicken salad. The tortilla was fried and made into a bowl which was filled with lettuce, tomato, corn, jalapeño and topped with chicken. It was okay, but not a quesadilla! It did not fill me up, so I went for a dessert as well, a Blueberry pie. It was served warm with ice cream and fresh berries. Just to die for!
Being a café they, of course, serve a variety of coffee drinks and hot chocolates, as well as beer, wine, cider and mixed drinks. Carrot cake, cheese cake, Sacher torte, muffins, cookies and brownies are also available.
Café Bare Blåbær is a nice place for coffee and cakes, and their pizza was good, but for dinner I would go somewhere else. Their food was not very sophisticated!
Same owners run a bar, Bær & Bar, next door.
