Caesar Business Hotel Santiago Chile
Had a stop over in Santiago Chile en route to Peru, so we took a taxi from the airport to the Caesar Business Hotel in downtown Santiago, near the Santa Lucia area. The taxi stopped right in front and access was easy through the double doors and onto the front desk. A porter met our taxi and grabbed our bags and took them to the front desk. I was pleasantly surprised to see the porter did not hang around for a tip. The front desk staff were expecting us, and check in was a painless process. Another porter loaded our bags onto a trolley and escorted us to the elevator, and took our luggage into our room prior to leaving.
The room was very clean and well presented. The sheets and pillows were clean and scented, and the bed was very comfortable. After a quick change and fresh-up in the spacious and well presented bathroom, we headed back downstairs to explore the rest of the Hotel before venturing outside. We found the roomy Internet café and business lounge, and wi-fi was available for a small fee.
The front lobby area was well presented, with a modern contemporary décor and design, free-flowing and uncluttered furnished with soft comfortable lounge seats to rest and contemplate your next move in Santiago just through the large double doors. The laundry facilities looked clean and orderly.
The staff behind the front desk, were very friendly and helpful, offering lots of good advice and tips on how to save money and the best tour options for our needs. At the end of our stay there, we had in fact spent less than we anticipated attributable to the advice we were given in terms of a cheaper tour option we were told about by the staff.
I have to say the area just outside the Hotel doors was very fascinating, and quite a pleasant walk towards Santa Lucia Hill and the surrounding old buildings, churches and parks. We enjoyed roasted macadamia and almonds from one of the many street vendors just outside the Hotel, as well as maize and an assortment of kebabs and smokey meat pasties. The smells were amazing. Just around the corner a few minutes from the Hotel, is an area of Santa Lucia full of craft stall, leather jackets , belts and bags, woven woolie jerseys gloves hats, wooden flutes and other instruments, plus T shirts galore. The prices are negotiable, and you have to be prepared to haggle if you want to get a good bargain.
A ten minute walk to the right and you reach Santa Lucia Hill, where after a relatively moderate walking workout, you get to an old stone church overlooking the city. Unfortunately it was closed for repairs when we were there, but it was a lovely old church all the same.
There is a bus stop directly outside the front door which is convenient if you want to just take a bus ride around the city. All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Caesar Business Hotel in Santiago.
