Southwestern Flavors in Southwestrn Virginia Jul 09, 2016
Here in Southwestern Virginia was a restaurant offering flavors inspired by Baja California. Something different to be sure. Susan and I thought we would try it. The restaurant is located in a historic building in downtown Blacksburg. It was built as the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church in 1847. Inside, one can still see where the nave was located. We sat upstairs in what had been the gallery.

Southwestern seafood dishes dominate the menu, through chicken and steak versions can be ordered. I ordered the Lemon Grilled Shrimp Tacos with a side of Mexi Slaw. Calamari appetizer to start. The shrimp tacos were very good with an interesting cilantro sauce. I really liked the Mexi Slaw, a coleslaw with beans and another tangy sauce.

The restaurant was very popular even with Virginia Tech out of session. There is an extensive bar located where the altar used to be. I can only imagine what it is like in season!
