Serentiy on the CSU campus Apr 21, 2010
Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado is a beautiful campus nestled just east on the foot hills. The grounds are spread out and sprawling, with plenty of green space to enjoy. One of the best spots on campus though, is the Oval. The oval is a landmark in its own right. It is filled with old, large Dutch elm trees that have been around for many, many years. The beautiful trees surround some of the oldest and most picturesque buildings on campus including the Administration building which was built in 1924. Around the perimeter of the oval are other academic buildings, including Ammons hall and the music building. The oval houses an intersection of walkways from various sections of the campus. Obviously the best time of year to visit is late fall when the elms have changed to brilliant yellows and reds. Anytime of year is a wonderful time to visit and walk the 2065 foot perimeter though.

Circling around campus for many years now is a list of 101 things to do while you're a CSU student. Much like 1001 places to see before you die, this list represents some of the more iconic places and things to do in Fort Collins and at CSU. A few of the 101 things include items that may be checked off your list at the oval, including #21. Take a moonlight stroll across the Oval and #38. Kiss someone at the Oval.

Even if you just stop by for a few photos or to people watch as hung-over college kids slog their way to class, the oval is a beautiful place to visit. It is a true visual symbol of the university.
