CEASA (Companhia de Entrepostos e Armagens Gerais de Sao Paulo, CEAGESP)
This is one of my favorite places to go to when in Sao Paulo. As an open market, it delivers over 10 tons a day of fresh vegetables, fruits, fish, meats and flowers from over 1,300 different areas of the State. The best tiem to go there is early in the morning, around 6 am, when allthe produce is extremelly fresh out of the trucks. Before you go, be sure to check on the dates, as each day of the week they specialize in a specific product(s) (nevertheless, they always have most produce). It's a treat for your all your senses. When there, have some Pastel (Fried Filo dough) and Suco de Cana de Acucar (Sugar Cane Juice). Dont feel shy about trying all the fruits on the stands! Part of the Brazil 2004-2006 travel blog |
