We woke up early to make the 2 hour drive from Kill Devil Hills to Buxton.  We drove south on NC12, the narrow paved road connecting the barrier islands of the Outer Banks and runs through the Cape Hatteras National Seashore (entrance fee not required).  In addition to the beaches, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is another main attraction.  The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest brick lighthouse (210 feet) on the American coastline.  The best part is that the lighthouse…

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest in the nation and famous symbol of North Carolina. The lighthouse site houses a visitors center that is open throughout the year and houses displays on the island's maritime history. Jesse and I drove the (almost 6-hr) route to get here - we ended up taking 40 to 64 to NC12.  It was off and on rain all day today - poop!  We were hoping for beautiful weather this weekend!  Hopefully tomorrow will be better...
