Small Butterfly Park Jul 29, 2013
The Bali Butterfly Park located 7kms north of the Tabanan town, and easy to find if you have a car and Balinese driver.

This Butterfly Park of Bali is quite small and has expensive entrance fee for what it is which cost usd 10. The park divided into several areas. After pass the gate, it show the garden with flying butterfly in a tropical nature with 15 types of butterfly species, but it is difficult to take pictures as the butterfly keeps flying around and not settle down.

At the end of the park, there is an enclosure show the life cycle of butterflies, from the caterpillars, chrysalis and turn into a butterfly. In addition to this, there is variety of different type of insects on display and one of the staff explain these insects life cycle if you are interested.

End of the garden, just before the exit, there is a small museum displaying butterfly case in different species.

Overall, it was okay and nice diversion from the temples.

An interesting place Jun 15, 2012
We can see lots of live butterflies in a small park with net covers the rooftop. Also, go to the breeding center. It has several group of cocoons. One group that last for 1 days, another that last for 3 days and so on. Some has already come out and becomes a butterfly but the wings are still weak, they are not ready yet to fly.

The staffs are very helpful, polite and explain thoroughly about each insects' life cycle and their habits. Unlike many other staffs in tourism spots in this world, they don't ask or expect money as tip for what they have done (explaining and answering our thousand questions). It reflects that they work with heart. No pressure for gaining money as much as possible. Perhaps it is one of good elements in Balinese's concept of life.

There are also breeding sections of some other insects such as grasshoppers and beetles. The staffs are putting the insects to your shirt or hands so you can feel a kind of interaction with the animals. Also, for taking pictures.

After that, we are entering the museum where they have lots of showcases. Inside the showcases, there is lots of species of butterflies, grasshoppers, and beetles.

At the end, there is a small shop that you can buy souvenirs made from preserved butterflies and you can buy snacks and drinks too.

Well, I recommend this site especially for a family with young children to know more about life of some insects species.
