Day trip to Bushkill Falls from New Jersey Jul 01, 2014
It’s only little over an hour drive to Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania from North New Jersey. They call Bushkill Falls as “Niagara of Pennsylvania”. I visited there after few days of heavy rain so to me it was wild and very much active active and scenic. There are total of 8 falls, up from the Pocono mountains the water begins their descent toward the Delaware River far below and they move faster toward Bushkill Falls.

The main fall was wild and a 100 foot drop from the edge of 100 feet cliff was spectacular. The entry fee is now $ 12:50 and I believe if you plan right and the weather is in your favor then spending the whole day there then it’s well worth the price. They have four different trails and you could choose based on your ability and interest. I took the most popular Yellow Trails which was an hour but if you make frequent stops mesmerized by the beauty and decides to make frequent stops and take pictures then it may take well over 3 hours. If you are into hiking then it would be a perfect place for you to visit and don’t forget to follow the Red Trail. Comfortable shoes and water bottles are must because you need to go down and then again climb lot of wooden stairs and handmade paths to the bottom of the main falls then up again.

There are grills and picnic tables, a snack bar, ice cream, fudge, and of course restrooms. For me it was a great memorable experience, enjoyed the falls, the scenery, the fresh air, and the hiking.

The Niagara of Pennsylvania Jan 16, 2010
I would not necessarily refer to this as the Niagara of Pennsylvania, but that is how they advertise it.

There is 1 main waterfall with several other smaller ones, but there are more things to do there. They have several different nice trails of different lengths that are easy for everyone including children. And once you are done with seeing the waterfalls, there are more attractions such as a gift shop, fish, paddle boat, and miniature golf (all activities are additional on top of the admission rate).

The admission rate is $10 which is an average rate for any tourist attraction.
