Busch Stadium Saint Louis Reviews
Nice place to watch a ballgame May 15, 2009
Being the third baseball stadium bearing the same name in St. Louis, Busch Stadium is sometimes nicknamed “Busch Stadium III” or “New Busch Stadium”. It opened in 2006, which also happens to be the year when the Cardinals won the World Series.
Located near the Metrolink of the same name, the stadium is a very short walk from it. Walking around the ballpark, there are statues of past Cardinals players, like Ozzie Smith and Bob Gibson. Plus a Stan Musial statue in front of one of the entrances, as well as a memorial to past Cardinals announcer, Jack Buck. And history tiles that tell big moments in team history.
A great place to watch a ballgame, in a nice location. I would recommend sitting somewhere behind the home plate area, which gives you nice views of downtown and the Gateway Arch. And a view of the scoreboard as well, which shoots out fireworks whenever the Cardinals hit a home run or win the game.
Speaking of scoreboards, there is a display of the manual out-of-town scoreboard from the old stadium. The scores on it have not been updated on it.
Also, I have to mention the option of First Pitch, which is a way to get tickets at the last minute at a very cheap price. It is recommended that you get there sometime before 9 AM (when the ticket office opens). This is a random drawing of where your seat will be, from front row to standing room. So this option can be a home run or a strikeout, depending on where your location is. For me, it ended up being a strikeout, in case anyone is wondering. But regardless, hopefully First Pitch will continue for a long time. The steps for it in this link...
And there seems to be a promotion giveaway for almost all of their home games, as was the case for the 3 games that I attended. Kind of gives that minor league baseball feel.
For baseball fans, this place is definitely a must-see, for a game. And you may end up getting an included souvenir as well. And the location is nice, being walking distance to some of the other attractions, like the Gateway Arch and the Old Courthouse, along with cheaper eating options. So something to do while waiting until game time during the summer months.
