Bus with Crucero Del Norte Dec 28, 2011
Bought the bus tickets for my friend and I at the Retiro bus station in person in BA, very difficult if you only speak a little bit of Spanish, as nearly all the front desk ticket people only speak spanish. The layout and quality of the bus terminal is quite poor. The bus tickets we bought for the trip were quite expensive as were for the Cama Suite seats (supposed to go 180 degrees flat but proved only 170 degrees, at 625 pesos each) but the extensive service of drinks and food on the bus helped a lot. The 17hr bus ride started late by 30 mins as the bus terminal was extremely busy and hectic. Once on the road we were served some alcoholic drinks and sodas along with a warm chicken dinner and breakfast the following morning. Two movies in English were shown on the bus trip at the beginning of the journey on the shared tv screens (one screen per two people, or one for yourself if you've got a solo seat by itself on the other side of the bus). The ear phone sockets for the sound of the tv/movies (bring your own ear phones, ipod ones work well) are not on the side of your seat like in plane trips but on the ceiling where the air vents are. Proves a bit tangly when one has to get up. Also, a decent sized blanket and small pillow are provided. I'm 194cm and of course I didn't fit entirely in the seats lying completely extended, but thats how it is. Seats were very comfortable (not leather but soft fabric material). If the seats actaully did go 180 degrees flat I would have givnen this whole bus trip a 5 start rating.
