Now, I'm a bit biased because this is my home town, but what better person to advise you on Bury than a Bury person!

The things to see in Bury include;

The Nutshell.

This is cool because it's the smallest pub in Britain. There's a mummified cat on the wall inside too!

Moyses Hall

This small museum is free for Bury people so before you go in, check a phone book and steal an address and phone number for you to write down.

Inside you'll find out about witches, and the Suffolk regiment and old toys and all kinds of fun! If you are/have small children, there's work sheets to do on the way round- I recommend the dinosaur one!

The Manor House Museum

Actually I've never been there but I hear it's good.

and lastly Abbey Gardens and the Cathedral

Way back in history, Bury used to have an abbey. You can see how big this thing was in the picture in Moyse's Hall. Then the peasants revolted because the monks were hoarding money and they ambushed the abbey and knocked it down.

The abbey is now a really nice garden that Prince Charles likes to visit about once a year, so it's kept really nice. It's won loads of awards for the flowers and stuff.

The cathedral is where Mary, Henry the 8th sister, had her funeral AND also where John Peal had his funeral too. Fact.

It's really nice in there and often has lovely music placing. The tower was only completed a few years ago so it looks very clean. Make sure you go to the gift shop there too and say hello to the LOVELY ladies behind the counter. They're the best.
