'Large granite rock piles on the beach' Aug 14, 2010
Burong Island is another of the Belitung group that is unique for large granite rock piles on the beach, Southeast of the Island they are uniquely shaped to resemble a bird's head and according to local people, there language is taken from the Burong Island stones. Burong Billiton means language for the Birds.

The Burong shaped stone has become one of the icons of the beautiful granite boulders of the Belitung Islands. The Stone size is approximately equivalent to a 3 storey building with a unique formation. It looks like this stone was split and there are some that look askew perhaps because of coastal erosion. The beaches are of fine white sand around the rocks.

By the time the seawater receeds you can walk to the stones. Please be careful because there are a lot of sharp rocks around coral reefs and the underside of rocks overgrown with barnacles, sharp shells and sea urchins, Meanwhile, on the South side of the island consists of a crystal clear shallow sea with fine white sand as it’s bed and you hardly ever encounter any sea animal or a sharp rocks in these waters, you can be free to play.

Burong Island there are several bungalows under coconut trees that you can use for a rest. For those of you who like adventure, walking around the island looking for the scenery and the unique shapes of the granite boulders that are scattered around the island will make a memorable experience.

If you do make a visit to the Belitung Islands and Burong island, stop to take pictures with this Burong stone background. Almost every visitor took pictures with this unique stone as a background. To spend time on the island of Burong is to be unforgettable.

The trip to Borung Island takes 30 minutes from the coast of Tanjung Kelayang or 15 minutes from the fishing village of Tanjung Binga. Travel to the island is usually done in one trip with a trip to Tanjung Kelayang and other islands included.
