Burum Pension Dubrovnik Reviews
Nikola is the man! Jun 05, 2006
If you're in Dubrovnik, this is the place to stay! When you get off the bus, look for the pushiest, big, lively, local guy selling rooms and taxi service. That would be Nikola. He and his wife Brigita run a pension in town, about a pleasant 20 minute walk from the old city. The place is a very expanded house with many clean rooms with bath. It looks like a motel. Work was still being done when I was there in 2006. The price was dirt cheap, especially for the quality of the rooms. The best part was Nikola though. He was always offering to drive us anywhere we wanted for free. He said it came with the price of the rooms (we did give a nice tip before we left). While we usually walked, we did take him up on it a couple of times when we were exhausted. We would call him up and he would know exactly where we were. He would talk a lot about his city. His pride for Dubrovnik was infectious. He also seemed to know every restaurant-owner in town. Nikola would make reservations for us and then we would be treated like family by the owners. The bill would be VERY reasonable as well for great food and drink. Nikola made visiting Dubrovnik, a wonderful place to start with, that much more amazing.
