Burren Overview

The Burren is a karst landscape in County Clare, Ireland. It measures approximately 250 square kilometres. The Burren National Park is located in the southeastern corner of the Burren.

The Burren consists of limestone where the cracks are carved by erosion making it look like isolated rocks. Burren (Boíreann) means a rocky place.

Burren is rich with historical and archaeological sites. There are more than 90 megalithic tombs in the area and several portal dolmens.
