6:20am Sleep is a funny thing when I’m on a trip. I’m super tired at the end of the day, so I fall asleep in a flash, but the circumstances are so unusual and the schedule so unfamiliar, that at 5:45am I was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to get my day started. I also really enjoy having all this free time in the morning without having to rush to get things done. 8:30pm Today almost began with disaster. Running out of my room this morning I saw that the bus was gone! We…

I went up to Burlington, VT to visit my sister this weekend. When I was heading home like 5 minutes after I got on the highway I noticed how awesome the mountains looked with the fog over the tops of them. So being really dumb I pulled my car over on 89 , got out and snapped a couple pictures with my crappy digital because I keep that in my purse always. So here they are.

Auri and I woke up around 9:30am on Sunday and decided that, since it was once again sunny and not too chilly out, that we had plenty of time before Eli and Tamara showed up to go for a bike ride. We started off by going from Auri's apartment and up towards the UVM campus...which, for anyone who hasn't seen it, is beautiful. We rode around there and Auri showed me where she was working on campus. From there, we took a paved path that goes around the outside of the campus. T…

Merry Christmas!! It's been a pretty uneventful day here. Last night I cooked dinner for the boys and we ate family style in the day room- while listening to rap.... yeahhhh. It was ok though. The boys went to bed and I watched Love Actually and IMed everyone at midnight because there was nothing else to do! This morning we found a present from TWG, so that was cool, and also because I was the only person who knows who he is! I feel old! I got really …

With graduation aproaching and most of our AP tests done with, we can finally concentrate really on our trip. It is all very exciting and challenging at the same time. we are having the most difficult time with our apartments. yes "apartments" as currently we have two. its all kind of a big mix up right now because germans emailing us in english and us emailing them back in english is not working very well but we cant really complain because its not like any of us speak a wink of german.…

As a new student at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), I had joined the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student club on campus. Our team made Central’s debut entry in the annual ASCE & Master Builders Concrete Canoe Competition. We’d been working on the project since October of the previous year and the competition was held in April.
We left for Burlington VT Thursday (17 April 1998) at 10:30pm and started celebrating before we were of the sch…

Lori and Tori and I were great friends during our freshmen year at Texas A&M University at Galveston. We ran all around together and got along like peas and carrots. Lori and Tori lived together in the dorms for a semester, and when Lori left Galveston after our first year, they kept up like sisters, catching up in various parts of New England and following Phish around. To begin our Sophomore year, Tori and I moved into a big house with two other guys and we ended up co…

The ride from Forestport to Burlington was beautiful because I decided to take the rustic back roads up and over the Adirondack Mountains. Not much traffic on the twisty winding up and down roads. At Fort Ticonderoga, I took a short ferry ride across the lower end of Lake Champlain into Vermont. The rode was very beautiful through forests and farms in NY and VT. From the ferry, I turned north and drove up to Burlington where I ran into a lot of road construction in the city. Eventually I foun…

After nine weeks living in a tent (well actually 4 in a shack, 5 in a tent) and working & playing pretty hard, it was time to just completely collapse for a day or two. I'm staying with Cyndy & Bruce (& Tony the dog) in Burlington - Cyndy worked in the office @ camp. It has been so fabulous just to do nothing for a few days, to have a proper shower, to sleep in, to go out and drink coffee, etc etc. Maria, a friend from camp, was also in town for a day or two, so …
