Burke Vacation Guide

Burke, Virignia, is a suburban community in Fairfax County. Like so many Northern Virginia communities it is a mix of the old and new. It was founded in the 1850's as Burke's Station, a railway stop named for a local landowner. It played a role in the Civil War as the site of an engagement by Mosby's guerillas. The Silas Burke House, a private residence, exists today.

Today, Burke is a community of single-family homes and townhouses. The center of Burke remains the intersection of Burke Road and Old Burke Lake Road, where you will find the firehouse and post office. The old general store, though, has been replaced by a shopping center.

Nearby is Burke Lake Park, an expansive park featuring a large lake for boating, hiking trails, camping, and even a carousel and miniature train ride.
