Following the northwestern coastal highway going  up Ilocos Norte to reach Pagudpod, I stopped at Cape Bojeador Lighthouse standing on a hill overlooking the South China Sea. This is in the town of Burgos. When one speaks of Northern Philippines, the province of Ilocos definitely comes into mind. A weekend holiday trip along with a busload of other local tourists took me to this part of the country where culture and nature thrives. I have quite a fascination for old and historic churches, the baroque-style Paoay Church, a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site was on top of my list of must-sees. Overall, Ilocos has exceeded my expectations, this one of the best trips I’ve had in many years.
