Burgerfuel Sydney Reviews
Bastard Burger Apr 24, 2013
We decided to go to this burger joint after reading about the top ten places to get great burgers in Sydney. This was listed as one of the best so off we went to Newtown, which is a few stops on the train outside of the city but is one of the cooler, more chic suburbs to spend an afternoon grabbing lunch and browsing the kooky, authentic boutique-style shops.
It's located on King Street and it nicely decorated.
The menu lists a vast array of burgers from chicken, vegetarian and beef. They do burgers on special each day also at cheaper prices. The burgers on their own range from about $11-$14 and the meals (which include a drink and chips) range from $17-$20.
The burger we had been recommended to get was the, adequately-named 'Bastard Burger' because, pardon my French, it really is a bastard of a burger! It literally contains everything - onions, beetroot, cheese, lettuce, bacon, mayonnaise, relish, tomato and a very large meat patty. It is a monster of a burger and anyone with a big appetite would not be left wanting!
The staff are friendly and helpful. They tell you all you need to know about these humongous burgers.
All of the packaging is bio-degradable and environmentally friendly, even the ink they use for the printing on the packaging is oil-based and not harmful. They have a funny story printed on the back of the chip-holders that says they conducted an in-store survey asking the customers whether their being a more environmentally friendly business would encourage their return business and the results were a resounding 'not really' but they keep this campaign running anyhow.
If you like burgers, go here! It's not a big restaurant, it's more of a fast-food feel to it but it's got good food.
