Beautiful Castle Jun 07, 2011
We visited this castle somewhat on a whim. From a distance it looks beautiful in all its glory. It was quite a way out though so luckily we could drive there at our own leisure. At first sight we thought it looked like the Disney castle. Once at the grounds we had to pay 2 euro for parking, then there was the shuttle bus which was another couple of euros or so. The shuttle ride was alot easier to do than walk as we were on a bit of a time limit and plus we felt lazy as we had been diving quite alot. Once at the top, we walked around to gain entry to the castle however, you had to pay a fee. It was 5 euro to just look around the grounds or 10 euro to have a look around and have a guided tour inside the castle aswell. As we just wanted to look at the outside we paid the 5 euro to get in. Once in though there were some breathtaking views surrounding the castle and it was nice to see the castle in such good condition. We were a bit scared about going to see the castle as we had faced Burg Eltz which was under reconstructive works but luckily we got it at a good point!
So overall it was quite expensive to go in and see it but it was worth it. If you are a castle or historical architect lover then this place is a must. I love looking at castles so I really enjoyed looking at it and was quite sad to leave it behind. I'd love to visit it again in afew years time.
