Buregdžinica Bosna Sarajevo Reviews
Bosnian 'fast food' take 2 Jun 23, 2014
After tasting local Chevap, it was time to try another local speciality - Burek made of flaky savoury pastry stuffed with meat, potatoes, spinach and cheese or just cheese. It comes covered with delicious, tangy kaymak.
Burek is sold by weight so the price you pay would depend how much you order. Average price per kilo is 8-12 KM (€4-€6) which makes it another cheap 'fast food' meal.
We chose to try this traditional food at recommended, as the best in the town restaurant, Buregdžinica Bosna.
Although the place was very busy, we managed to get the last available table. A waitress approached us within few seconds and explained how to order portions of Burek. The small portion consisted of 4 stripes and there was a choice of 4 different fillings.
We ordered one serving of spinach and cheese Burek and half portion of meat Burek with half portion of cheese Burek.
Our portions arrived within just few minutes and looked very big. The flavour of the dish with kaymak was nicely balanced and tasted good. The only disadvantage of this meal for me was the slightly oily texture of the pastry. I was still worth a try, and although I wouldn't choose to have it every day, it could make a good meal.
Total price paid with drinks - around €5.50. Definite meal on a budget.
