SF Speakeasy Jul 04, 2011
On the outside, Bourbon and Branch looks like the least likely place you might want to visit, especially given the nearly infinite excellent cocktail bars that SF has to offer. The corner building is slate gray and the only sign that separates it from pure anonymity is a small one that reads "Anti-Saloon League". Get a reservation for a password and knock on the plain yet imposing brown door and you'll find yourself transported back to the 20's. The wait staff is in flapper dresses and fedoras mixing some of the most delicious drinks around, with swing music and a dark personal atmosphere making the experience complete. It's a perfect place to relax and leave the present behind, since in the 20's they didn't have cellphones, so you better keep yours in you pocketbook!
