If you have kids and are looking for something to do with them for the day then go. But if you're a backpacker like me who got stuck in Ennis and had nothing even remotely close by to do for the day, do anything but this. Tons of little kids and the castle isn't the original. It was rebuilt like 5+ times and everything there is made within the past 10 years at least. Do yourself a favor, find a little Irish pub and get drunk. Or go BACK to the Cliffs of Moher if you have to... but don't go here.

To sum it up... waste of time and money, HUGE bore.

Touristy Castle, still fun Aug 01, 2009
A bit expensive Adult entry, about 15 euro, student, with pass 10, family, 2 adults, to 4 children under 18 35 euro. After that you can enter a really nice theme park. All shops and houses have old furniture, and you an see almost all of the castle. Climbing the towers isn't very wise when you're claustrofobic... Great tapestries as well. If you decide to have a drink there, try the scones theyŕ really good. It's a great spot to visit with children as well. At some of the shops and houses things are ma old fashioned, for you to see. Baking bread, smithing etc. There is an old fshioned evening buffet in the castle main dining hall. Every other night there is a old fashined irish night at the same place.

I have visited Bunratty Castle and village in County Clare, Ireland the past two summers. It is a short drive from the Shannon Airport and worth walking around for a few hours. You can get some good information from guides in the castle and take some nice pictures from the roof of the castle. There are numerous cottages and replica homes that are fun to take pictures of and walk through. There are several places to eat. One little cafe has tea for 2, 3, or 4. The cakes are very nice as well. You will also find a few shops to purchase items as well. If you fly in early and want to get your body on the time schedule for Ireland, Bunratty is a good idea. The cost isn't too bad. They have student prices and group rates as well.

Not a bad place. When you visit it's not just the castle you'll see. The admission is 13€ and for that they have a large area you can walk around. They have many live animals, the castle, and plenty of beautiful flowers and sceanery. There is one very pretty garden in the middle as well. While it is very much a tourist spot there is a lot to see. It's setup to show whatfarm live in Ireland was like and there is a significant amount of old farm machinery and assorted items you would see around including barns, hay storage, etc. The castle is very interesting in itself. It's smalleven though from the outside itseems much larger. It was neat to walk through it and see just how small the passageways, rooms, and windows really are. Theyhave a midevildinner/show here at night and the company that runs this holds similar shows at other castles in Ireland. While I did not attend this show, I found the one I did attend very interesting.
