Around 1:40pm we arrived to Buenos Aires City. The tour ended in the city. The bus would stop in 2 places. At the French Embassy in Recoleta. This stop was made for the people who wanted to visit the fair and enjoy a nice lunch there. My mom and I were still full from our delicious dinner from the night before :P . So, we waited for the other stop: “Galerias Pacifico”, a nice mall located in Retiro walking distance away from Plaza Mayo.    We didn’t plan do shopping. ...

Buenos Aires - You Know Youre Fabulous!

I had the privilege of going to the fabulous city of Buenos Aires this summer.  This had been both a dream spot for both me and my dear friend Noah.  We had narrowed it down to three destinations: Germany, Norway and Argentina.  Having recently gone to Spain, we thought maybe it would be best to go somewhere other than Europe, that and Norway was very expensive at the time.  Germany was cheaper, but we wanted to add another continent to our list.  Consider it done, Bu...

Some details from Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is a beautiful city with so many contrasts. It takes around 40 - 50 minutes to get from the airport (Ezeiza) to the center of the city. On that way you could start notice the diversity, nice flat landscapes followed by old buildings with poor maintenance. Under Construction...

TOUCH DOWN BUENOS AIRES!

25 hours after departing KL (and 1-hour stop overs in Joburg and Cape Town) MH201 finally landed at Ezeiza Ministro Pistarini in Buenos Aires at 216PM, February 13, 2008. The sky was a perfect blue and the sun was all out. The sweltering heat embraced me as soon as I exited the airport. The exact opposite case when I first touched down in Ezeiza back in June 2007. Back then, it was raining and chilly, the vibe was totally dark and gloomy. I wasn't able to send out blog entries in ...

Alguien esta esperandome?

My hostel offered a package deal to the futbol game! I, of course, thought it was a deal, until discovering that tickets cost 15 pesos! I willingly paid 120 pesos to go with the group, which included transportation and a great chorizo snack as well as avid Argentinian futbol fanatic guides:) PRICELESS! The closer we walked to the stadium, the fuller the calles became, and the more blue and yellow I saw. Futbol in Argentina is like nothing else I've experienced, and I grew up playing futbol!...

Subway, Subte, Metro - Buenos Aires
posted by:
May 27, 2008
Despite Buenos Aires is a HUGE city, and there are several options for transportation (Bus, Taxi/Remiss, Metro/Subte or Train), it’s so crowded and you could really get stucked on traffic, so one of the fastest option is to take the Subway (Subte). It has 4 lines, it's very simple and it just costs 1 peso (US $0.33).

Buenos Aires, Argentina -› -› ...
Tomorrow we are leaving for a new adventure, one that I am honestly very excited about. We are leaving for Florianopolis Brazil which from what I have gathered so far is a much slower-paced city in Southern Brazil. It is an island off the southern coast of Brazil, and is the capital of Santa Caterina. Although in Atlanta I consider myself a "city girl" I have come to the conclusion that I am not as much of a big city girl as I thought. I have decided that to conisder yourself a "city person" ...

Soccer deserves its own entry in this blog.  I was in search for a soccer team to adopt in South America.  These decisions cannot be taken lightly.  They involve careful consideration of stadiums, traditions, uniform colors, supporters, riots, and some measure of on-field performance.  But to be clear, once I choose a team, I will not waiver from that choice.  If they get relegated to 2nd division (as my Spanish team of choice Real Betis has done before and will do ag...

Yesterday we took advantage of what time we had left at Iguazu and went back to the national park. It was well worth the second visit as there were more trails there to explore and sights to see. This time we took the Gran Aventura tour, which involved a 4X4 guided tour through the rainforest, followed by a boat trip around the central island of the falls and into(!) some of the waterfalls themselves. We ended up getting soaked, but in the blistering heat and humidity, we were quickly dr...

FIRST IMPRESSIONS For Rio, I noticed the graffiti first.  Here in Buenos Aires, I noticed that all along the side of the freeway there were cars parked on the grass with families gathered around.  They were BBQing, playing soccer, flying kites, and riding dirt bikes in the grass along the side of the freeway.  It was as if they were driving and suddenly decided to pull over for some family fun.  It brought a smile to my face as my taxi drove me from the airport to my apar...

Arrived into Buenos Aires very bleery eyed after an early morning flight on three hours sleep. We had a great night last night so I can´t complain too much. We got to the hostel which is a lovely house just out of San Telmo and were immediately told to head down to the Sunday San Telmo markets which were just 12 blocks away. We made our way down thinking they would nearly be finishing and were hit by the amount of people and the music. The streets were filled with stalls selling so many beau...

Buenos Aires, my first day in this beautiful city :)

Although I went to bed late, or early from the next day, I asked for a wake up call at 7:30am in order to go to the gym.   This was our last day in Buenos Aires. We were leaving the country at 4pm in order to fly to Santa Cruz. Happily it was our free day too. Now it was the opportunity to do some sightseeing. I have already gotten a map.   By 9am I was ready to start on walking around the city and get my magnet for my fridge. But my boss wanted to do a couple of phone c...
