Buddy's BBQ & Burgers Glasgow Reviews
Buddy's Mar 01, 2014
Buddy’s is a barbecue restaurant in South Glasgow. I am told that it is so popular people are *crossing the river* to come and visit. If you know anything about Glasgow, you will know this is actually a bigger deal than it sounds. Barbecue was, until recently, one of the few kinds of food it was tricky to get in the UK but it has become wildly successful recently. There are achingly fashionable places in Manchester where you can hardly get to the toilets past the statement handbags and hipster beards. This being Glasgow, there is none of that nonsense here. It’s a comfortable, casual place with a huge list of different kinds of chicken wings to eat, a decent pulled pork sandwich and – rather wonderfully – beer from the Glaswegian Microbrewery WEST. It also does takeaway.
The barbecue food was lovely, although if I had a criticism it would be that there was a tiny bit too much wet sauce and maybe a little bit too little marinating going on. But it all tasted very nice. The staff were very helpful (they have to be, otherwise how on earth would you find out what a “Glasgow Megadeath Hotwing Challenge!” is?), and the restaurant is a great place to eat. And I will certainly forgive a little bit of overenthusiastic saucing if it means I get to wash the meat down with West’s delicious Munich Red beer, or a pint of St Mungo’s lager. The portions are huge – don’t make the same mistake as we did and order a portion of chips each unless you are very, very hungry. Prices are very reasonable.
