A Buddy Holly Must Jun 08, 2011
Are you a Buddy Holly fan? If so this is yet another must see. The newly created Buddy and Maria Elena Holly Plaza has the West Texas Walk of Fame and statue of Buddy Holly in an outdoor grass park, with gated fence around it. The statue and Walk of Fame has been moved to this new park in the heart of the Depo Arts and Entertainment District of Lubbock, Texas and is now next door to the Buddy Holly Museum.

Buddy Holly was raised in Lubbock and started his band, Buddy Holly and the Crickets, in his garage. They were still in high school attending Lubbock High School; he even left his mark, signature, in the bell tower of the school. Some say that it was Buddy Holly who was the creator of Rock in Roll but for sure he was a pioneer of Rock in Roll and his style of music forever changed our world.

Now for the first time Buddy’s wife, Maria, has been honored with Buddy’s name in the Buddy and Maria Elena Holly Plaza.

May 9, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. CST Lubbock opened the Buddy and Maria Elena Holly Plaza with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

A must see for any Buddy Holly fan.
