Buck Owens Crystal Palace Bakersfield Reviews
The Bakersfield Sound at its best Apr 25, 2013
For many many years the Bakersfield area has had a reputation for country music. Quite a few country singers and musicians started out in this area. Among them were Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Wynn Stewart, Susan Raye, Freddie Hart and Maddox Brothers and Rose. In fact, back in the 1950s the music that came from this area was called the “Bakersfield Sound”, which was different than the main country style of the day coming out of Nashville. It was just ‘more’ country!
The Crystal Palace opened in 1996 both as a venue for mainly country music but also a nice dinning establishment. It is also a museum for Buck Owens and shows many of the guitars, suits, hats and other items from his career.
Several bronze life-sized statues are located in the lobby and front area. They are Willy Nelson, Garth Brooks, George Strait, George Jones, Elvis Presley, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Bob Wills, and or course Buck Owens.
If you enjoy country music and seeing some of the legendary things for the past, you will enjoy a visit here.
I understand the food is pretty good too!
