Buba House Barcelona Reviews
Lovely affordable hostel in great location Jun 08, 2012
The Buba House is a lovely hostel, situated very close to a metro (Passeig De Gracia), and about 20 minutes walk from 'La Ramblas' which is the most famous street in Barcelona. It is also about 2 minutes walk to Casa Batllo, which is one of Antoni Gaudi's famous buildings.
The staff are very friendly, and we quickly became friends with them. They give you loads of information about good places to visit and how to get around. There are lots of maps and leaflets to help you choose what to do with your day.
I did a lot of looking around for hostels before I went, and thought that Buba House would be the best quality for the small budget we were on. It is very clean, tidy and colourful.
There is free breakfast from 7am - 10.15am which includes corn flakes, bread/toast, and boiled eggs. Although it doesn't seem like a lot, we found that eating eggs and toast before a long day out in the city kept us going for a long time. Also there is tea, coffee and hot chocolate available all day. There is a fridge in the kitchen area, so if you are staying for a while, it is best to buy bread and fillings to make sandwiches because it can get pricey eating out.
There is a small kitchen, but it's very sociable, so you will likely meet people from all over the world over breakfast.
The bedrooms are quite dark, the lighting isn't amazing, but apart from that the rooms seem perfectly fine. The beds are comfy enough.
There were two bedrooms and two bathrooms on our floor. The bathrooms were well ventilated and kept clean. The only bad point was that the showers would go very freezing sometimes for a long time, and you had to wait for it to turn hot again.
No one can come into the building without being let in by the staff, so it is safe enough anyway, but if you are overly cautious, there are lockers in the rooms.
Overall, me and my friends loved this hostel and would definitely recommend it!
