Second Horrible Experience Here Jan 26, 2009
The staff and owners provide poor service and are argumentative. One gets the impression that there is a price to pay for their reasonable prices, and they have that attitude in all they do.
We took two vendors there today for lunch (1/26/09), recommending the place to them. I had already had one bad experience months ago involving the same attitude (got my order wrong and put no meat in it, but wanted to charge for the meat anyway) but I decided to give it another try. One member of our party asked for her glass of water to be taken back because it had particles floating in it and the server argued with her, saying it was lemon. No lemon was requested and there was no lemon slice in the water. At the conclusion of our meal, two of us had mounds of food left and requested boxes to take the food home. The waiter brought one small Chinese-style take out box for each. It was painfully obvious that the food would not fit in it, so we asked for a bigger container. The waiter did not return but after a few minutes, the same server who argued with us about the water returned and took our plates, saying she would box the food for us. She brought back the SAME small container originally presented, only half full, for each of us!! This was an obvious, obvious attempt to either cut costs who to show us who was boss. I mean, it WAS our meal and we did PAY for it, right? The reason we had so much food was because we ordered two satay appetizers and there was no attempt to box that until we requested it. I guess lefovers aren't part of the deal at this place and don't dare ask for a container to fit your meal! They will decide what and how much goes home with you. I could go on and on about not being able to substitute one soup for another with the luncheon meal and refusing to take AMEX, but in the end all I am left with a bad taste in my mouth and the resolve to never, ever again return to this pitiful excuse for a Thai restaurant, let alone recommend it to others. |

HORRIBLE SERVICE Jul 18, 2008
HORRIBLE, UPSETTING SERVICE!!!
I went here tonight and I left extremly upset. The server accidently brought out the food I orderd to the table next to me and after the people next to me had already taken a few bites they took the plate away from them and gave the same exact plate to me. I was disgraced and the server and the manager acted like nothing was wrong with that. I am reporting them to the Better Buisness Bureaus and the Health Deparment. I highly doubt that this was a one time thing for this restuarant, in fact I bet the manager went to the back and yelled at the waitress for getting caught. Eat there if you dare, but dont be fooled by the decor into thinking this place is actually respectable! |

We visited this new Thai restaurant called "Bua Thai cuisine" in downtown Claremont the other day with some friends. The restaurant is right next to the new public parking, and on the new W. First Street in downtown Claremont. The interior is clean and nicely decorated, with lots of lotus flowers in big pots. (Bua is supposed to mean lotus in Thai)
We ordered Beef Sate (a familiar Thai dish) and Thai Toast (which I had not heard of before) as appetizers. The sate was very good, the toast was different and pretty good but you might want to skip it if you are not into fried foods. Most of us ordered Thai ice tea, theirs is on the sweet side. I love Thai ice teas, but it's hard to find one which is not too sweet. The soup Tom Kar Goong (Coconut milk soup with shrimp) was tasty, with mushrooms. And the red curry with chicken and bamboo shoots were eaten before I had a chance to take a photo! Lastly we had Larb Salad, which is minced meat (we had pork) dressed in spicy lime juice and toasted rice powder, served over fresh salad. It had very special taste from the lime juice, and was very delicious! Overall, service was good, food was good, and we would be happy to eat there again! (Most dishes were about $8-10) |
