Bräustüberl - Bräugarten Forst Lagundo Reviews
For a lunch or a beer in South Tyrolean style Apr 09, 2010
On our way from Füssen in Germany to Garda Lake in Italy we had made a detour and we passed through the village of Lagundo (Algund in German). We saw a wooden bridge over the road, a brewery on the left and a slightly elevated busy place with the sign that it was a beer garden, so this had to be the place to stop for a late lunch.
It probably just opened for the new season and it seemed like the entire village was there. There was live bavarian music and many people around. A bit chaotic in the pleasant way of the word.
We parked the car and crossed the wooden pedestrian bridge to join the crowd.
It turns out that this is the beer garden belonging to the local Forst beer brewery. They serve of course the variants of this beer, but also good alpine style of hearty meals.
Everything was exactly as you might expect including the castle tower on the background, the music, the smell of roast meat and sausages, running waitresses in dirndl-dress, and over all a jolly, happy, noisy crowd.
We had the local Forst Kronen Bier, a luxury gold beer and we combined it with a mix of three grilled local sausages served with sauerkraut and potato mash, and gravy! This was exactly what we needed on what probably was one of the first afternoons that year that eating outside was pleasant!
If you ever pass this place and the weather is not bad, then make it a stop for lunch or a drink. I don't think that you will regret it.
