Brussels, or Bruxelles in French, is a phenomenal city. It is quite hectic with a great many things to do, gorgeous women, two quite distinct languages (Flemish, which is Dutch, and French), a bustling nightlife and a great Grand Place city center. One would not run out of things to do over the weekend and it feels like the city is modern and very old, all at the same time. The Grand Place is amazing in its architectural beauty. Surrounded on all sides by some very old buildings, including the...

It was day that I went to four cities, okay, technically three cities, as I only stayed in Milan for a few hours on a layover to Brussels. Once in Brussels I met with my friend and colleague to catch up on work and personal business. Unfortunately, it was raining and cloudy that day and I did not have a place to stow my luggage any where because they were renovating the train station. So it was a very quick tour of the Grand Place and the area surrounding it and then back to the train station...

This morning we woke up at about 10 am and had an hour to get out before the lockout in the hostel from 11-3 pm. We walked over to the Grand Place, which is the focal point of Brussels. After taking numerous photographs, we strolled around the square in search of famous Belgium chocolate shops! Some chocolate shops that we visited included Leonidas, Neuhaus, Godiva, Royal Corne Port.
We then went to have l...

On our way from Copenhagen I made a pit stop in my aparthotel in Brussels because it was a good breakspot. At this point the first 1000 km of my trip in car was done and I also wanted to show my son some of the city where I was going to move down to.
Brussels in the summer and in the sun is great. We went o a sightseeing and had a nice dinner at an Indian restaurant close to European Commission and close to my Aparthotel in Kunst Wet/Art Lois.

I don't know how many times I've been to Brussels in the last three years, but since its always business related, the time to "see the sights" is usually sparse. However, Grand Place, Manneken Pis, The Atomium, and all the other "touristy" sights have been well and truly "consumed". The challenge now is to find new and slightly subtler things to enjoy/experience. One (small) step to achieve this, is to stay in a new hotel each time - and this Thursday I booked into Ar...

My most favourite things in Belgium has to be the famous chocolate that most people love so much. If you haven't tasted the chocolate in Belgium you haven't tasted the real thing:) I brought Belgium chocolate with me all the way to South Korea and let me tell you the person i brought this to loved it so much he was practically protecting it with his life hahaha...enough of that but there's the Wafels too that tastes like no other wafles. Thick warm wafles with sugar on it yummi but what ...

After a mad dash in the pouring rain to the train station, I made my train by about two minutes. I think if you can run with a 65 litre backpack without problems, it's probably the backpack for you!
I arrived in Brussels and had three hours to kill until my train to Paris. I did the normal touristy things, with one of the highlights being seeing this little statue that pees water. He's usually dressed up in different costumes but he wasn't today so that was kind of disappointing haha. Trying...

I only say that because apparently that's what Den Heksenketel means in the English: 'the witches' cauldron'! Anyways, it was a fantastic hostel, and it'd be great to return in order to check out the rest of Antwerp's sights (as well as those in Ghent and Bruges). And into the fire 'cause it's ridiculously hot in Belgium.
I did manage to see the cathedral in Antwerp though, and it's truly quite nice. Full of really depressing statues and other such artwork, but it would hardly be much of a c...
