This time I decided to try to touristy boat tout, which brings you along the canals in the center of town, down to the Minnewater (first time I saw this!) and then back to the center again. Seeing the Minnewater from the boat, as well as the brewery right nearby was enough to encourage me to head back down that way following the boat tour. The Brewery was already closed (see future Brugge journal entries) but got my first introduction to the Minnew...

We were able to make it out of Amsterdam after spending the previous few days getting exceedingly blitzed. We woke up around 8:00 AM and took the train to Antwerpen and then from there, Brugge. Some funny bits about this was that our ticket to Brugge and our Pasports were not checked. The border between the Netherlands and Belgium seems very pourous. It took about 4 hours of traveling to make it to our final destination. I'm sure we could have done better had we been more exp...

The day started off with our exams for both our traveling classes, which finished up today. They were no trouble, and I was glad to have them out of the way. I was then off to an exciting and relaxed last day of our traveling! A big group of us decided to go do a brewery tour which was actually highly recommended to us by our professor. It was a the "Half Moon" brewery in town and was really interesting and randomally fun. They toured us through their old factory in a large old medival buildi...

83m high belfry will be found here in Brugge which is the central part of the main wing of the 13th century.
Bellfries symbolised the deep human urge for freedom and democracy.
The bellfry is accessible tower that provides a fascinating view over the whole of the city, showing the spatial relationship between the trade of the market place and the administrative buildings around the center square.

Wow... these are some old old photos of my very first trip to Europe mixed with a trip with my mum for grad research. The quality is pretty bad as I've had to scan them from hard copies, but c'est la vie.
