Bruges Vacation Guide

Bruges is the capital and the largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium. Located in the northwest of the country, It has a population of more than 117,000.

It has been called the Venice of Belgium, due to the beautiful canals that run throughout the city. There is a beautiful lake in town that looks like it comes out of a fairy tale, complete with swans swimming around. Some things to do in Bruges includes going on a horse and carriage ride around the city, sampling chocolates in the city's many chocolate shops, and going into a beer shop to try out some of the Belgian beers. The lambic is an interesting beer made in Belgium that is worth trying out. Also don't forget to try a Belgian waffle when you are in town!

For artists, it is a wonderful place to sketch and paint, and the many outdoor squares in town provide a wonderful spot to do this. There are many art museums to visit as well that hold world class works of art.

The historic city centre of Bruges is a classed as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO.If you've chance to go there don't forget to taste the city’s most famous chocolate, the ‘Brugsch Swaentje’ (Bruges Swan).

Brugge is exactly like everyone says. It's picturesque, with every single corner you can imagine being a thing of beauty. Food here is mediocre though, and it's extremely, extremely touristy. It was far more crowded here than Paris was during our many excursions and people here are not as polite as…

Bruges is a town with lots to see. Every street could qualify in a travel book, every building window can be featured in a movie and every canal can tell a thousand different love stories.  I started my day at the Belfry Tower. This was lovely. You can see the whole of the town from the top, t…

If you love chocolate, this is the festival you have to go to. It is called Choco-Laté and I visited it in 2007. There were 2 locations where you can taste chocolate. You will get some free samples of chocolate and sometimes you have to pay for it. The smell was wonderful.…
